Leta 2012 je mestno pokopališče Piran praznovalo 200 let in 150. obletnico
posvetitve pokopališke cerkvice in vhodne veže.
Piransko pokopališče ni le zadnje počivališče Pirančanov, je tudi mesto spomina in bogate zgodovinske in kulturne dediščine. Pokopališče je zgrajeno na imenitni lokaciji, ki odpira pogled na severni del Jadranskega morja vse do Triglava, na severozahodni strani na velik del Italije do Benetk in na južni strani do Hrvaške.
Smo na stičišču treh držav, kar se odraža tudi na nagrobnikih, ki pričajo o povezanosti treh kultur tudi onstran zemeljskega življenja. Na tem kraju je zapisana zgodovina mesta Piran.
